Description
The smoothness and elegance of a great Japanese whisky
The estate
The history of the Suntory Whisky Group is linked to the dream of one man, Shinjiro Torii. A pioneer with a passion for wines and spirits, he launched his own wine in 1907 and founded the Yamazaki distillery in 1923, now recognised as the oldest in Japan. The Suntory group subsequently developed its activities and became internationally renowned.
Following the acquisition of Château Lagrange in 1983, Suntory acquired the French group Orangina Schweppes, Ribena and Lucozade, two British drinks brands in 2013, and Beam, a reference among spirits, in 2014.
The wine
In 1987, it was decided to create a new whisky that highlighted the many technical innovations made by the Suntory group. A rigorous selection and subtle blend of thirty malt and mellow grain whiskies gave rise to Hibiki Harmony in 1989, celebrating the 30th anniversary of Suntory. This Japanese whisky magnifies Suntory's philosophy, namely the constant quest for harmony between people and nature and the preservation of Japanese craftsmanship.
Meaning "resonance" in Japanese, "Hibiki" is a premium blend of several malt and grain whiskies from the Suntory group of distilleries.
This whisky also showcases a unique bottle, whose 24 facets represent the nuances of nature throughout the 24 seasons of the traditional Japanese calendar.
Hibiki is the most awarded blended whisky in Japan and is recognised as one of the best whiskies in the world.
