The 2020 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Les Murgers des Dents de Chien is also very charming in style, bursting with aromas of pear, peach, white flowers and blanched almonds, followed by a medium to full-bodied, lively and open-knit palate that concludes with a mouthwatering finish.

Decanter

Bright lemony fruit, but also a lovely density and length. Well done. The domaine owns a half-hectare here, in arguably one of the best premier crus in St-Aubin. The grapes are refrigerated and then pressed - sometimes after a light crushing - with the press cycle lasting more than two hours, being rolled once or twice. The must is run into cask without too many lees and bâtonnage is avoided.

Bettane+Desseauve

This climat, with a name that’s tricky to pronounce, is just a stone’s throw from the great Montrachet, but its fluid, sleek and very pure style is closer to Chevalier-Montrachet, a little farther on, with a lighter feel. This 2020 is a real success—this climat is well worth discovering.

The Estate

Founded in 1859, Maison Jean Chartron is based in the heart of the Côte de Beaune, in Puligny-Montrachet. Jean-Michel and Anne-Laure Chartron, the fifth generation, uphold the excellence of this iconic house. The estate is renowned for its environmentally friendly viticultural practices and its commitment to traditional winemaking, which reveals the purity of Burgundy's terroirs.

The Vineyard

This 2020 "Murgers des Dents de Chien" is a Saint-Aubin wine made from vines grown on clay-limestone soils.

Winemaking and Ageing

The wine was vinified entirely in oak barrels, 25% of which were new and 75% previously used one to three times. It was aged for 14 months on fine lees, followed by 4 months in stainless steel tanks to refine its profile.
