Description
A rich and powerful red wine from Pauillac
Château Pichon Baron is a Second Cru Classé en 1855. This red wine comes from a vineyard of 73 hectares located in the heart of the Pauillac appellation. The vines are planted on soils composed of Quaternary gravels, large pebbles and sand. The wine is aged in oak barrels (80% new barrels and 20% barrels of one prior use) for 18 to 20 months. The 2009 vintage blends 67% Cabernet Sauvignon and 33% Merlot.
With its deep, dense and lively robe, Château Pichon Baron 2009 develops fresh, complex, fine and delicate fragrances of black fruit (blackberry), with subtle notes of sweet spices. Full-bodied on the palate, it is powerful and rich, offering tannins that combine concentration, subtlety, precision and mellowness. The finish is fleshy and reveals sublime length. This wine reveals substance and displays amplitude, balance and an important fruitiness.
